Kerplunk
An animation that breaks down the stages of the digestive system. The digestive system is made up of a series of organs that help to breakdown food, and to distribute nutrients throughout the body. Bacteria called microbiomes help with the process of digestion. Digestion is important because it breaks down food into nutrients, which is then used by the body for energy, growth, and cell repair.
Concept
The animation is designed to be simple, colorful, but highly compact with visual content. We created a story that compares our digestive system to that of a factory in order to help simplify our understanding of the digestive system.
Direction
We separated the digestive system into 6 stages and let our imagination go wild. Each student took one stage and built their stage with visual guidance.
Process
5 weeks of exploring to nail down a meaningful visual narrative story. 8 weeks of modeling, texturing and rendering. 1 week of final editing.
My Role
Each student made their own stage. Including modeling, Lighting, texture, and animation. In this project, my role was creating a small intestine stage. After that, our team combined our stages into one animation. During the process, I was involved in the sound effects part.
